Institution: George Washington University

Current Title/Rank: Resident Physician - PGY3

Leadership Experience: I have held several leadership positions over the last 7 years, both during medical school and residency, which has helped me develop strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills.

During medical school, I was co-founder and Vice President of the Emergency Medicine Interest Group (EMIG) at Nova Southeastern University from October 2018 to December 2022. As co-founder, I helped establish the NSU MD chapter of EMIG, which ultimately allowed students to explore emergency medicine as a specialty. As Vice President, I organized events, such as physician panels, EMS ride-alongs, simulation days, and interprofessional events.

I also served as class Vice President at Nova Southeastern University from May 2020 to May 2022. In this position, I represented my medical school class and worked closely with the class council to address students’ concerns and organize class-wide events. This position was particularly unique in that it helped create a sense of community among our class at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

As a resident at George Washington University, I have continued my leadership as Recruitment Committee Co-Chair (June 2023 – present). In this role, I manage our program’s social media presence to help engage prospective applicants. I also organize various sessions for applicants and participate in rank list meetings.

I hope to bring the skills I have gained through these experiences to CORD.

What Dr. Williams will bring to the CORD Board of Directors: Throughout medical school and residency, I have shown a strong commitment to advancing medical education. During medical school, I served as a Peer-Assisted Learning Facilitator where I created and led interactive sessions for first-year medical students to enhance their understanding of the material covered. My work as a PAL inspired me to conduct and publish research on the outcomes of this program, further solidifying my dedication to educational innovation.

In addition, I have held several leadership experiences related to medical education. These roles have provided me with invaluable experience in strategic planning, program development, and collaboration, which will serve me well as a member of the CORD Board of Directors.

I have also developed meaningful connections within the emergency medicine community and believe that I have had a positive impact on shaping the specialty’s future through recruitment. I am eager to contribute my skills and perspectives to CORD and help advance the future of emergency medicine education at a national level.
