Reasons for wanting to join the CORD Board of Directors & Opinions and Priorities for the Board: As an Emergency Physician dedicated to clinical excellence, leadership development, and advancement of medical education, I am honored to submit my candidacy for member-at-large position on the Board of Directors of the Council of Emergency Medicine Residency Directors (CORD-EM). My background in academic emergency medicine, medical education research, and advocacy for diversity aligns with CORDEM's mission to empower emergency medicine directors in shaping the future of our specialty.
Currently, as the Program Director at UPMC-Pittsburgh (University of Pittsburgh), I am committed to enhancing medical education and fostering leadership in the next generation of emergency physicians. Through invited presentations at regional and national conferences, I have shared insights on diverse topics, including leadership paradigms, coaching for physician excellence, microaggressions, and public speaking. My experiences as Program Director and a member of CORD have reinforced my belief in the power of collaboration and education to advance the field.
As our specialty faces pressing challenges—including workforce sustainability, physician wellness, and health equity—I am driven to advocate for innovative strategies that address these issues. My dedication to advancing equity in emergency medicine and fostering inclusive leadership underscores my commitment to creating environments where all voices are heard and valued.
Joining the CORD-EM Board of Directors would allow collaboration with like-minded leaders to develop strategic initiatives that enhance our practice and support program leadership in navigating the complexities of academic and operational management.
